Monday

Yesterday, my British and European Cinema class met at the Hollywood Costume Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum.  That was such a neat exhibit. There was over 100 costumes from popular movies inside there.  There were three big rooms that the stuff was all displayed on mannequins. It was just so unreal to be standing right before outfits that different celebrities once wore.  Some that I can remember seeing were a dress that Beyonce wore in Dreamgirls, Darth Vader, Kate Hudson's yellow dress and necklace that she wore in the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Reese Witherspoon's pink outfit that she wears in the 2nd Legally Blonde movie, Batman, Spiderman, Dorothy's dress from the Wizard of Oz, a couple of Meryl Streep's outfits including the hideous outfit she wore at the end of the movie Mamma Mia!, Harry Potter's outfit from the 5th movie, and so many more that I forget all that I saw. It was just really awesome. There were so many people there though, so I skipped past a few areas because it was just way too crowded and I didn't have all day to wait. It still amazes me at how incredibly rude people are. I don't think I would be able to live in a big city permanently if this is how it happens to be in bigger cities. After class today (Tuesday) Lisa and I went to the bathroom, and there was a line. From out of nowhere this lady barges into the bathroom and passes Lisa and I in line and we just couldn't believe it. We left and used a different bathroom that had no lines. It really frustrates me at how rude people are. I don't care where they need to go or if they're in a hurry, there is no reason to be rude. I've also found that waiters and waitresses are rude. They expect you to know what you want to eat right away. A couple of us went to a small place to eat lunch after the museum yesterday and right away she gave us menus and like a minute to look them over and then expected us to know what to eat. She didn't ask us if we wanted something to drink at all. They are not friendly like waiters and waitresses are in the US. After lunch yesterday, we went to an expensive store Harrod's. Inside Harrod's there is so many designer things, a pet store, restaurants, a Disney cafe, etc. Like pretty much anything, you name it they have it.  We just wanted to look in there and just see at how expensive it is.  I looked at the price tag on a scarf and it was 245 pounds. That is equivalent to about $394. No way in heck would I pay that kind of money just for a scarf. People are crazy. There were so many employees. Everywhere you looked there was like two or three employees. There was security at each door.  Last night I went on wikipedia for Harrod's and it says that they have a dress code. They can deny you entrance into the store if you are wearing short shorts, flip flops, and many of things. I was just shocked at that. They let me in with jeans and tennis shoes! Woohoo! I definitely felt out of place just looking at the stuff there.

The readings that I have to do are going okay I guess. I'm finding it hard to get motivated to read. I like reading at my own pace and what I want to read and not for class. Having to read a whole novel a week for one class just isn't what I want to do. So far I'm pretty much just skimming the novel and then reading about it on SparkNotes. Hopefully that will be enough.
